It’s A Trap ! — Talking About Overstimulation
There I was, as usual, searching through YouTube for the perfect 15 minutes video before I start my first bite into my lunch. I’ve started doing the 16:8 hours fast, whereby I stick to only 8 hours of eating window and fast for the other 16 hours. I was kind of hungry then, but I just can’t stand eating without a form of entertainment!
That was a trap I had fell for. Overstimulation. Though this has become increasingly normal for us, watching a show while eating or having a music to listen to while we are commuting or reading an article. We ought to be entertained and be occupied with things to do. Although I’m not objecting the fact that by having a show, news or documentary while we are eating, it is in fact a good form of using our time effectively. To combat our hunger and at the same time gaining some knowledge through shows or documentaries. That is killing two birds with one stone !
Then, it comes to a point when I realised how overstimulation hit me hard, especially during this period of time when we are all home most of the time due to the ongoing pandemic.
I found myself bored easily on doing the simplest task of checking my email, going to the nearby supermarket to get some groceries. I just wanted to sit on my desk, get entertained and pass time.
That was when I came across this video while I was stimulating myself — How Overstimulation Is Ruining Your Life by Better Ideas. So I clicked on it!
