Very often we find ourselves failing to try new things, get dirty or get uncomfortable pushing through the rock in front of our faces. We fear of what’s expected to come next and we never realise that we are merely escaping from fears, we never get away with the flinch.

I’ve been very much interested in the mental aspect of life, purely because I believe that the brain is a tool for us to explore, like the toolbox that we were handed when we were young. Filled with various tools from spanners, shifters, hammers to screwdriver and bolts. We may or may not know how to use them at a young age, but as we grow older, stronger and bolder, we can start by exploring each tool for its use. Some of us learnt to use the tools and some don’t. It’s our choice to explore each tools to our creativity.

So lately I’ve been holding back a lot on reading this book by Julien Smith titled The Flinch. As I decided to explore more on mental fitness, how we actually need to take actions to train our mind, just like how we build those biceps in the gym with bicep curls, we need to train our mind by putting resistance onto it.

After reading The Flinch, I thought would be nice to share what I’ve learnt from it and how it relates to my interest on mental fitness.

What Is Flinching ?

In my opinion, flinching is the one exercise that we often came across as we build our mental fitness. It is like the bicep curls that most gym goers will tell you about. Flinching similarly is a resistance that we come across…
